Just sometimes we need to take some time out. Sort out, re strategise, pack away for a later stage, concentrate on less! This is how my week started. I have all these materials and notions to make a few Quilts at a time, hundreds of Quilts stuck up in the creative side of my brain but I most definitely don’t want to burn out whilst making Quilts. True to life we all have so many things happening and often too. Family, friends and the children who need nurturing and comfort. My thing is I can mend, so often I put all effort in to do just that. What happens then is I sort of become needy myself and for me starting a new Quilt does the self healing trick. This time I wanted to not do just that because I am the one telling the other Quilters to stick to their guns (so to speak!) and finish one by one their Quilts. Fine if you have two or three Quilts you’re working on, but write them down so you can tick them off when done. So often I’ve heard of “Quilters” who have half a dozen unfinished Quilts and none on their beds. This weekend and late Sunday I did wonders for myself. I let the new Quilt in my head go, not on paper and not with the cutter and materials, simply out of my head. I packed away the beautiful bag for a later stage. Wrote on my board; Mystery Quilt “Belle” and Baby Brophy’s Quilt and knitting. In My Quilt Room the approach to knitting is a basic one, I cannot make a dress and I cannot knit a sweater, I know how to knit socks because I got my Mom to teach me that so I have the knowledge, but I can knit my own dish cloths. And I love love love doing it. Its another beautiful therapy for me. Dishcloths are quick to knit and a generous thank you to myself!
